Ramsbottom and District Local History Society Society was inaugurated on 18 November 1970 to promote an interest in the locality, through a study of its history. Last entry 1October 1979 of an ad hoc meeting when it was decided to put to the committee the idea of becoming a small discussion group and no longer meet at the Civic Hall because of costs.
