  <dc:description>Building stood in Prince Street,  where Joseph Strang had his engineering works. Harold Metcalfe started the company in 1937. During the war they made ammunition boxes for the government. When Harold died in the 1940s his brother Norman took over running the company. Built saw mill in Irwell Street and had other buildings nearby. Eventually taken over by Abelaim Ltd and in 1992 went into liquidation.  Sold to Ponden Mills who opened a factory outlet named Peel Mill.</dc:description>
