  <dc:description>Lawrence Rostron (1800-1877) was the son of  John and Alice Rostron of Edenwood.  He married Alice Pickup in 1826 and they lived in Brazil for a number of years, where he made his fortune.  They returned to Ramsbottom but then emigrated to Australia in 1841 and he was one of the pioneering sheep farmers in Victoria.  When Alice died he married Annie Honora O'Leary.</dc:description>
