TitleStubbins Paper Mill, Stubbins Lane, Stubbins.
DescriptionFirst known as Stubbins Print Works. From 1785 until 1903 various firms operated as calico printers. In 1903 the printworks was closed for 're-modeling' but never re-opened. In 1906 Richard Porritt & Austin Porritt bought the buildings. In 1911 Cromptons (Stubbins) Ltd bought the site from Porritts and began to produce cigarette paper. It was re-named Stubbins Paper Mill but also became known as 'Cromptons Paper Mill. Mill closed 1967 but re-opened in 1968 by Sterling Stubbins Ltd- later Fort Sterling & Fort James. In 2000 Georgia Pacific Corporation acquired Fort James.
