Fred worked on the building as a carpenter before the outbreak of World War II and then 16 years later became the manager for the main contractor Spencer & Clarke Ltd. It goes on to give details of Fred's training under Harry Norris at Spencer & Clarke Ltd and that Fred's son Granville had just completed his apprenticeship and worked under his father.
