Description | There were 5 mills in Summerseat: Lower Mill Railway Street, (also known as Twist Mill), Upper Mill, Hall Street, Robin Road Mill, Wood Road Mill and the main one Brooksbottom Mill - built about 1773 by Messrs Peel & Yates as a calico printing works. Had various owners after that until 1872 when Messrs Joshua Hoyle & Sons took over. Edward Hoyle rebuilt the mill in 1876. Building now converted to apartments |
